The Syrian resistance forces, opposing the regime of Putin's ally Bashar al-Assad, have previously launched a large-scale offensive in the Aleppo province, advancing their frontline units to the western outskirts of the city and beginning to encircle it.
This was reported by military-political analyst Alexander Kovalenko in his Telegram channel here.
It is reported that the Russian military police and special forces have been withdrawn from the Menagh airbase, Tal Rifaat, and the city of Aleppo itself.
Alexander Kovalenko pointed out that the situation is collapsing for Bashar Assad's forces (Syrian Arab Army - SAA), and in the near future, it can be considered that the city of Aleppo is lost for them, as they were not prepared for defense, which would mark the most significant loss for the SAA in recent years.
According to the military expert, this issue should interest Ukrainians because Bashar Assad, who is supported by Russia and Iran, will particularly be seeking assistance from Moscow now, and Putin will face a tough decision on whether to provide help or not.
"Unexpectedly, a second front has opened for the SAA, which they cannot ignore, and if they do, they will lose Syria. A complex situation akin to a 'split' maneuver," added Alexander Kovalenko.
