The Ukrainian Defense Forces are currently facing the threat that Kupiansk, one of the first towns liberated by the Armed Forces of Ukraine during the counteroffensive in the fall of 2022, may once again fall into the hands of Russian occupiers.
This was reported by military-civilian analyst, ATO veteran, and former commander of the assault company of the "Aidar" battalion, Yevhen Dykyi, during an interview on Radio NV.
"Unfortunately, this threat is very significant, and I would not downplay it at all," stated Yevhen Dykyi.
According to the military expert, Russian occupation forces in the Kupiansk direction are advancing using the same tactics as in other areas of the front, which can be described as "cockroach tactics."
"When several hundred cockroaches are crawling towards you at the same time, each one is small, and you can easily squash any single one with a slipper. But when there are a hundred of them, you simply can't keep up, and no matter how fast you run after them with your slipper, some will inevitably get through," the expert explained.
Yevhen Dykyi noted that our main line of defense in this direction has now become the Oskil River, although just a few months ago we were positioned much further east of it. Russian occupation forces are trying to cross the Oskil at several points simultaneously, and while most of these landing groups are quickly destroyed, one in ten manages to break through and establish a foothold.
