The Russian occupiers are utilizing record numbers of drones for their large-scale attacks, and in addition to the "Shaheds," they are also deploying "Gerbera" and "Parody" drones, which serve as decoys without any combat capabilities, merely distracting air defense systems.
This was reported by military-political analyst Alexander Kovalenko from the "Information Resistance" group in an interview with Elena Kirik.
According to the expert, decoy drones predominantly fall into the category of locationally lost in the reports from the Air Force press service. They are inexpensive and have a simple design, yet they can mimic the "Shahed." The most straightforward method of neutralizing them is through suppression using electronic warfare measures.
"Sometimes, they do manage to draw fire from attack groups, which have to engage them with their firepower and more. However, among all the drone sorties, the ratio of Shaheds to decoy drones is approximately 1:2 or 1:3," explained Alexander Kovalenko.
The military expert emphasized that the Russians will continue to attempt to increase the number of such large-scale attacks to psychologically terrorize the Ukrainian population.
"Their main goal is not just the physical terror of Ukrainians, which amounts to genocide, but also to create conditions for psychological exhaustion. When you cannot sleep all night and find yourself in a bomb shelter, in a parking lot, in the metro, or in other places, even behind two walls or in your bathroom, that is exactly psychological exhaustion. Waking up in the morning and going to work under these conditions affects everything," added Alexander Kovalenko.
