The passage of atmospheric fronts over Ukraine poses a challenge for Russian occupiers during large-scale attacks, as adverse weather conditions impact all aerial vehicles, including the "Shaheds."
This was stated by military expert, reserve colonel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and flight instructor Roman Svitan in a comment to TSN.ua.
According to the expert, the range of the "Shaheds" depends on their launch point. However, in general, the flight range of a "Shahed" is approximately 1,500 kilometers, allowing them to cover the entire territory of Ukraine.
A significant number of drones, particularly decoys, can be directed northward using electronic warfare, causing them to head towards Belarus or Russia and become location-lost.
Roman Svitan noted that the Russian army will continue to employ drones for mass attacks, with their numbers only increasing. In the expert's view, Russian occupiers may use around a hundred "Shaheds" daily, along with an equal number of decoys, totaling approximately 200 UAVs each day.
"Thus, this threat remains. We need to respond to it differently," the expert emphasized.
To more effectively counter enemy UAVs, Svitan suggests deploying more mobile groups in border regions to intercept "Shaheds" not over Kyiv, but as soon as they enter Ukrainian territory.
