Instead of large groups and organized offensives, the occupiers are employing a tactic of small units and chaotic artillery attacks.
This was stated by Vladimir Nazarenko, head of artillery intelligence for the 4th Brigade "Rubezh" of the National Guard of Ukraine, during a broadcast on the "Kyiv24" channel.
According to him, the Russians are utilizing a tactic referred to as "fire wave." This means they are deploying various types of long-range weapons for continuous shelling, combining drones, mortars, artillery, and even aerial bombs. Nazarenko emphasized that Russian forces are increasingly opting for a strategy of chaotic strikes, aiming to destroy Ukrainian rear positions and maintain constant pressure along the front lines.
"In other words, the enemy is increasingly combining long-range strike capabilities—from small drones and mortars to the tragedies occurring in peaceful cities when the enemy bombards with guided/unguided aerial munitions," the expert added.
Another significant change is that the enemy is moving in small groups—so-called "cockroaches." Instead of large convoys on trucks, which suffered considerable losses in 2022–2023, the Russians are adopting a different tactic: individual fighters on scooters, motorcycles, or mopeds infiltrate Ukrainian positions. This allows them to avoid mass strikes and launch attacks stealthily, making it more difficult for Ukrainian forces to detect and eliminate them.
