This was announced by the Minister of Community and Territorial Development, Alexey Kuleba, in his Telegram.
As part of the signed loan agreements under state guarantees, Ukrzaliznytsia will receive a record €480 million from the EBRD for the purchase of electric locomotives and the construction of a distributed electricity generation network.
“The first project will focus on updating the fleet of electric locomotives. The current fleet has long surpassed its operational lifespan. The EBRD will provide a loan of up to €300 million for the purchase of dual-power electric locomotives. It is crucial that the equipment selected through an open and transparent tender operates reliably and sustainably,” Kuleba wrote.
The second project is aimed at ensuring a stable supply of electricity to the electric locomotives.
