Families and parents of Ukrainian defenders who lost their lives in the war are entitled to burial payments. The amount is based on the subsistence minimum, and specific documents must be submitted for processing.
Additionally, families are reimbursed for material expenses related to funeral services and the construction of headstones, reported the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. In 2024, the assistance amount is set at 5 subsistence minimums, which equals 14,600 hryvnias.
According to the legislation, the individual designated by the serviceman to carry out his wishes or the person committed to burying the deceased must be issued the following on the day of application:
- a medical certificate of death — issued by a healthcare institution;
- a death certificate and a death notice — issued by the state registration office for civil status acts, the executive body of rural, settlement, and city (excluding cities of regional significance) councils, or by a consular or diplomatic representation of Ukraine.
