“For ages, the starry sky has assisted people in navigating time and space, as well as planning agricultural activities. Over time, this knowledge has been accumulated and passed down across continents, years, and cultures, becoming a part of mythology, religion, and astrology,” stated the NBU. “Today, we possess significantly more knowledge about the stars and the universe; however, there remains a belief that being born under a certain zodiac constellation leaves a distinct mark on a person's character. Regardless, the night sky is captivating. Therefore, we decided to create a new commemorative coin called 'Zodiac,' symbolizing the eternal connection between humanity and the universe.”
About the Commemorative Coin
The coin was put into circulation on February 27, 2025. It has a denomination of 10 hryvnias and is made of 925 silver. The weight of the precious metal in pure form is 31.1 g.
The reverse of the coin features a picturesque Ukrainian village under the starry sky, along with a boy who is intently observing the constellations, creating an image that conveys a sense of dreaminess, a quest for knowledge, and a connection to home. The evening landscape in the background creates an atmosphere of tranquility and harmony, reminiscent of warm childhood moments.
