A man approached PrivatBank requesting a credit holiday during his military service. However, the financial institution denied his request, stating that he is a contract soldier, not mobilized. The corresponding complaint was published on November 4 on the Ministry of Finance's website.
PrivatBank refused the man’s request for a credit holiday. The serviceman explains that he does not possess a combatant's certificate since he has only been serving for 3 months.
"I reached out to PrivatBank for a credit holiday for servicemen during my service. I was met with a refusal on the grounds that I am a contract soldier and not mobilized, and I do not have a combatant certificate because I have only been serving for 3 months (2 of which were at the training center). The conclusion is clear — if you voluntarily go to defend the country, you should expect nothing in return. They packed me into a bus - you can apply. Thank you, Privat, for the motivation," the man laments.
PrivatBank responded to the man's complaint, explaining which documents are necessary for servicemen to provide.
"According to paragraph 15 of Article 14 of the Law of Ukraine ‘On Social and Legal Protection of Servicemen and Their Families’, penalties, fines for non-fulfillment of obligations to the bank, as well as interest on the use of credit are not charged, including for servicemen who have participated or are participating in anti-terrorist operations, ensuring their conduct, or in measures for national security and defense, repelling and restraining armed aggression by the Russian Federation in Donetsk and Luhansk regions, and in measures necessary to ensure Ukraine's defense, protecting the safety of the population and state interests due to the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine - for the duration of their military service (from the start date of military service to the end date), but not exceeding the duration of the special period, and their spouses from the date the law comes into force - from May 18, 2024, for the entire duration of their military service," said PrivatBank.
