The current disposition of troops and resources, along with the number of personnel and ammunition, will not allow Ukraine to seize the initiative across the entire front line by 2025.

However, we have the opportunity to inflict significant defeats on the Russians in certain sections of the occupied territory, for instance, in Crimea. This was stated by military expert, flight instructor, and retired Colonel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Roman Svitan in an interview with the Commander-in-Chief.

The military expert reminded that there are 150 stationary military facilities in Crimea, remnants from the Soviet Union, and we are already gaining the capability to destroy them within a few months, even without entering the peninsula, using missiles and aviation components. But, according to the expert, this cannot be considered seizing the initiative on the battlefield; initiative involves planning and conducting offensive operations.

Roman Svitan noted that in 2025, the initiative will lie with the Russians, especially on the eastern front, but the destruction of military facilities in Crimea during this year could lead to the initiative genuinely shifting to Ukrainian forces by 2026.

The military expert added that Ukraine could carry out at least two to three operations in 2025: an aerial operation over Crimea, as well as localized operations in the Bryansk and Belgorod regions, advancing 20-30 km deep.
