This technology allows Visa cardholders to add their cards to digital wallets using a contactless method — just a simple touch of the card to the mobile device, as stated in the press release.
Tap to Add Card enhances security and convenience by eliminating the need to manually enter card numbers, thereby reducing the risk of errors and potential fraudulent activities. A unique one-time code is generated during the addition process, which is verified by Visa Chip Authenticate, and the card data is securely transmitted to the wallet. This provides a faster and more reliable way to connect the card compared to traditional methods.
“We are pleased to introduce the convenient and secure Tap to Add Card technology in Ukraine,” said Tatyana Chernaya, Vice President and Regional Manager of Visa in Ukraine. “With this solution, cardholders can feel at ease when adding their card to a digital wallet, knowing that their sensitive data is protected by advanced security measures. We believe that Tap to Add Card will further promote the adoption of digital wallets in Ukraine, addressing key security concerns and simplifying user interactions.”
The Tap to Add Card feature has rapidly spread worldwide following its introduction by Visa in September of last year, along with other solutions to enhance digital payments. In Ukraine, it has been implemented by PrivatBank, Universal Bank, and the International Investment Bank (IIB). The technology simplifies and secures the transmission of card data to digital wallets — over 49,000 Tap to Add Card tokens have now been generated.
