The currently most popular browser in the world, Google Chrome, holds approximately 61% of the American market, according to data from the web traffic analytics service StatCounter. Now, U.S. antitrust authorities are demanding that Google be required to sell Chrome as part of a legal process.
Sources indicate that the U.S. Department of Justice will soon approach the judge who ruled in August 2024 that Google unlawfully monopolized the search market. The agency will request the court to take measures related to artificial intelligence (AI) and the Android operating system for smartphones.
