On October 17, the autumn supermoon, often referred to as the "Hunter's Moon," will rise in the sky. This name has Anglo-Saxon origins, as its appearance once signaled hunters to prepare for the upcoming winter. The full moon was also known as the "Moon of Fallen Leaves" and the "Blood Moon."
This is the third closest full moon to Earth in 2024, positioned about 357,000 kilometers away. According to Adler Planetarium, this supermoon will appear 30% brighter and nearly 15% larger than a typical full moon.
