This was reported by Local Lead of the event in Kyiv, Roman Malkovich, on his Facebook.
“To illustrate how serious this is, over 90,000 people from around the world participated in the competition, and about 10,000 teams created projects. Approximately 1,000 projects were evaluated directly by NASA. Among them, our team emerged victorious! Congratulations to the team, and thank you to everyone involved,” Malkovich wrote.
Only the top 40 projects made it to the finals, from which NASA judges selected 10 global winners. The Ukrainian team won in the category of “Galactic Impact.”
The NVS-knot team developed a tool for assessing landing conditions by utilizing soil moisture data from SMAP and evapotranspiration data from OpenET. Their goal is to assist farmers in tackling issues arising from climate change, droughts, and floods.
