The NBU may lift limits on card transfers, but there's a catch—according to Pyshny.

Пышный сообщил, что НБУ может снять ограничения на карточные переводы, но это произойдет при выполнении определенных условий.

For this, it is essential that banks confirm their ability to independently identify high-risk clients, stated NBU head Andrey Pyshny in an interview with Forbes.

According to him, the National Bank has emphasized from the beginning that these restrictions are temporary and cannot, on their own, resolve the issue of drop operations. Addressing this matter requires a comprehensive approach, particularly the adoption of a law on a drop registry, which the regulator is counting on.

In addition to the measures being implemented by the NBU, banks must strengthen their own control mechanisms and adopt risk-oriented strategies. Notably, the principle of "know your customer" remains an important tool, Pyshny emphasized.

“There would be no drops if banks properly researched the client profile during onboarding and took into account their transactional history,” said the head of the NBU.
