Kyivstar reported that following testing, the speed and quality of 4G mobile internet has increased by an average of 40%. To enhance the 4G network in certain regions, the 3G network will be disabled in some cities.
Specifically, 3G will be turned off in Lviv, the Lviv region, Zhovkva, and Vynnyky on February 25, 2025, while in Smila, the shutdown is scheduled for January 28, 2025.
“The gradual phasing out of the 3G technology is a multi-year project that holds significant importance for the entire electronic communications industry, as it not only enhances the customer experience and increases 4G speeds but also prepares the network for the launch of 5G technology in Ukraine,” Kyivstar explained.
