In a recent publication by the Wall Street Journal, Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy, appointed co-chairs of the newly created Department of Government Efficiency (D.O.G.E.), outlined their plan to optimize the federal workforce. This plan includes transitioning some federal employees to "List F," which removes their traditional job security guarantees. Ultimately, this move will lead to a reduction in the workforce.
The proposed plan is directly tied to the broader goals of the Trump administration to cut federal spending and reduce government bureaucracy. Tesla's CEO and Ramaswamy suggest that as a result of decreased federal regulations, many jobs will naturally become obsolete.
Musk and Ramaswamy expressed their commitment to the future task, stating:
“We will operate as external volunteers rather than federal officials or employees. Unlike government commissions or advisory committees, we will not just be writing reports or cutting ribbons. We will be cutting costs.”
Additionally, they mentioned that collaboration with Trump's transition team is currently ongoing. As part of this partnership, a group referred to as "crusaders for small government" will be assembled. These individuals will work alongside the Office of Management and Budget at the White House.
