X has experienced several tumultuous years since Musk acquired it as Twitter in 2022. One of the most talked-about innovations was the introduction of new subscription plans aimed at making the platform profitable.
The infamous "blue checkmark" was originally introduced to verify user identities and was a free feature contingent upon meeting certain criteria. However, in 2022, X announced that users would need to apply for one of the subscription plans to be eligible for this checkmark.
In a recent note on its help page, X reported that the cost of the Premium Plus subscription will increase. It will now be priced at $22 per month, which is $6 more than the previous $16. Meanwhile, the annual cost of Premium X Plus will rise from $168 to $229.
