The Russian occupying forces have set a goal to capture Kurakhovo by the New Year in the Pokrovsk-Kurakhovo direction, establishing full control over the northern part of the Kurakhovo reservoir, and complete control of the southern flank of Kurakhovo along the Sukhie Yaly River, thereby resolving the issue of the Kurakhovo salient by the New Year.

This was stated by military-political analyst Alexander Kovalenko from the "Information Resistance" group in an interview with Yevgeny Kiselyov.

"In turn, the Kurakhovo direction and the Kurakhovo salient represent the southern flank of the Pokrovsk direction, which is still a priority for them, as since spring 2022, Pokrovsk has been the primary operational-tactical target approached by the Russian occupying forces," Kovalenko stated.

According to the military expert, even Bakhmut, Avdiivka, Selydove, and Kurakhovo are all tactical objectives, lacking both strategic and operational-tactical significance.

"Pokrovsk is an operational-tactical level target since it serves as a vital logistics hub, both rail and road, enabling control over this city to facilitate the movement and supply of Russian occupying forces in all directions – north, east, west, and they will advance from the south," Kovalenko explained.
