Germany: New Conditions for Social Support
In 2025, Germany will implement a new payment system for asylum seekers. From now on, financial assistance will be provided through special payment cards, replacing cash and vouchers.
The main objectives of the reform are:
- simplifying the process of receiving assistance;
- increasing transparency in spending;
- reducing the burden on administrations.
Monthly assistance will be credited to a card that operates like a debit card. Payments in 2025 will amount to:
- 563 euros for single individuals;
- 506 euros for partners in family units;
- 471 euros for teenagers (14-17 years old);
- 390 euros for children aged 6-13;
- 357 euros for children under 5 years old.
Additionally, working-age refugees who refuse employment will lose 30% of their assistance for three months. This will affect approximately 700,000 Ukrainians out of 1.1 million residing in Germany.
United Kingdom: Visa Extension
Starting from February 4, 2025, Ukrainians who arrived in the United Kingdom after February 24, 2022, can apply for a visa extension for 18 months.
