The development of a new AI model will assist Amazon in reducing its reliance on the Claude chatbot from Anthropic, a popular offering on Amazon Web Services (AWS).
The new large language model (LLM), codenamed Olympus, will be capable of understanding scenes in images and videos, helping customers search for specific scenes, such as a winning basketball shot, using simple text prompts.
Last week, Amazon invested an additional $4 billion in OpenAI's competitor, Anthropic, reflecting a previous investment of $4 billion made last September to capitalize on generative AI technology.
