According to reports, Beyoncé received a staggering fee for her halftime performance during the Christmas NFL game on Netflix, taking home $20 million for her 13-minute musical spectacle, as noted by UNN citing the Daily Mail.
Details
Together with special guests Shaboozey, Post Malone, and her 12-year-old daughter Blue Ivy, Beyoncé took to the field at NRG Stadium in her hometown of Houston during the Ravens game, which saw the Texans defeated.
Reports suggesting that Beyoncé earns over $1 million per minute for her time on Netflix have not been confirmed by either the streaming service or the artist behind the song Cowboy Carter.
The figure of $20 million has been sourced from social media, with several individuals claiming that this astonishing amount is part of a larger deal between Beyoncé and Netflix.
The performance sparked division among football fans on social media, with some arguing that the show was worthy of the Super Bowl rather than a regular season game.
Others, like Barstool boss Dave Portnoy, criticized the halftime show, stating, "Beyoncé has lost her way since Destiny's Child," he wrote on X, referencing the pop group in which she previously performed alongside Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams.
Reports indicate that the 43-year-old star signed a contract for three projects with streaming giants in 2019, which has now been fulfilled by two-thirds.
The first part was a documentary showcasing her 2019 performance at Coachella, which earned her $20 million.
The second part has now brought her two-thirds of the contract's revenue. It remains unclear what the final part of her $60 million deal will entail, although some would not be opposed to a repeat performance at the next NFL show from Netflix.
Additional Information
Beyoncé's halftime show during the Texas-Ravens game also marked her first performance since her husband Jay-Z was accused of rape, while music mogul and disgraced rapper Sean "Diddy" Combs faced accusations of raping a 13-year-old girl at a party following the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards in New York.
Jay-Z has firmly denied the allegations, and Diddy's attorney, who is currently awaiting trial and is behind bars on charges of human trafficking for sexual exploitation, conspiracy to commit extortion, and transportation for prostitution, has also denied the claims.
This was also her first performance since she last took the stage in October 2023 to conclude her highly successful Renaissance World Tour at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri.
